Upon registering with ICAS Assessments, your school is issued a code and password. The teacher responsible for coordinating ICAS in previous years may have access to this information.Alternatively, please contact us to reset your password. click here

Your school has two payment options for ICAS: either through direct parent payments (PPS) or via the school’s own funds.Learn more about the two payment options here. click here

The Parent Payment System (PPS) is a user-friendly platform that enables parents to make direct payments for their child’s ICAS assessments. To use PPS, schools must first register for the system and then share the registration details with parents. Once PPS is in use, student accounts are automatically created in the assessment’s portal, so schools should not manually import students or allocate licenses. Find more information on PPS click here

The closing date for schools to sign up for the Parent Payment System varies each year. To view this year’s deadlines, please consult the official ICAS portal or your ICAS coordinator or through www:ICAS.pearacademy.org click here

However, your school may decide to close their Parent Payment System earlier than the specified dates.

Staff access in the Assessments Portal depends on their assigned role: Teacher or Unrestricted Teacher.

  • We recommend assigning the Unrestricted Teacher role to any staff supervising students on test day, as it grants access to all students—particularly useful in secondary schools where teachers may supervise across home-room classes.
  • If you assign the Teacher role, you must include class information during the student data import and allocate classes to teachers, as students can only belong to one class in the portal. The class field is optional when uploading ICAS student details, but required if using the Teacher role.
  • To assign classes, go to “Assign classes to teachers” on the School Coordinator dashboard. Please ensure teacher accounts are activated before assigning classes.
  • Note: School Coordinators and Unrestricted Teachers automatically have access to all students—no class assignment is needed.

No, for schools that have used the Parent Payment System, student information will be imported automatically. Your school will not need to import students into the assessments portal.

The class field is optional for ICAS Assessments. Schools may choose to include class information to streamline the printing of student logins and support results analysis

If you’ve uploaded student data without classes, you’ll need to re-upload the spreadsheet with the class field added—ensuring all other fields match exactly to avoid duplicate accounts. Alternatively, you can use the Edit Student function to add a class only if it already exists in theassessments portal.

Only School Coordinators can edit student names in the assessments portal. Ensure names are spelled correctly, as they appear on ICAS certificates. To edit, log in, go to ‘Management > Students,’ select the student, and click ‘Edit Student.

Only a School Coordinator can edit a student’s date of birth. To do so, login to the Assessments portal, go to ‘Management > Students,’ select the student’s name, and click ‘Edit Student.

Gender is an optional field in the Assessments portal. If provided, it appears only in school reports and allows results to be viewed by gender. You may enter Male (M), Female (F), or Unspecified (X)

If your school wishes to analyse results by gender, you can include gender information when importing student data into the Assessments portal. This enables gender-based filtering in the Results Portal reports

The locked-down browser app, Janison Replay, prevents students from accessing other applications—such as web pages, cameras, spell checks, screenshots, and keyboard shortcuts—during the live assessment. For more information, please visit the ICAS support page check out.click here.

Spelling Bee and Writing require the locked-down browser application. Only one download is needed per device.

The technical readiness test must be completed on every device used for ICAS. If students are using personal devices, you can share the test link with parents or guardians.

This is an online check—similar to an internet speed test—that verifies whether a device meets ICAS technical requirements. For more information, please visit our support page technical requirements page.

Sit the test

Yes. On the day of the ICAS test, the supervising teacher must log in to create and launch the test session.

Yes, the test supervisor instructions outline how to supervise each subject and year level. The document also includes the number of questions and the duration of each test.

You can schedule them before, during or after school.

When accessing non-locked down browser tests, please provide your students with this short URL: icas.site/start.

Each student receives a unique one-time code to access their test. They log in using the test session code created by the teacher on the day. Students can only begin once the teacher starts the session. During the test, the teacher monitors progress via the 'Supervise Live Test' screen in the Assessments Portal. One-time codes must not be shared or swapped between students.

If a student needs to leave the test midway due to unforeseen circumstance, the teacher can pause the session. The student can resume the test on another day within the sitting window by using the same one-time code and a new test session code created by the teacher. While paused, the test cannot be accessed from home.

If a student logs in after the test session has started, you will need to manually grant them access. Go to the 'Waiting Entry' tab, select the checkbox next to the student’s name, click 'Allow Start,' and then click 'Confirm

Click "Start Session" on your "Supervise live test" screen.

Refresh the page to see if the question renders correctly. If not, ensure the browser and device meet the required technical specifications. If the issue affects only a few students, it is likely a connectivity issue—please contact your IT team for support.

Ensure students enter the test session code first, followed by their individual one-time code. The order is important and cannot be reversed. Both codes are 8 characters long.

Yes. Each ICAS test randomises question order, so no two students sitting next to each other will see questions in the same sequence.

The duration of ICAS exams varies by subject and year level. Exact timings for each exam can be found on the ICAS Support page or in the test supervisor instructions.e

We recommend adding 2–3 minutes to the test duration to allow for any image loading delays. Note; extending the time further may affect a student’s eligibility for a medal. Image delays are typically linked to internet bandwidth, so it’s advisable to consult your IT specialist in advance to ensure the Wi-Fi can support multiple devices simultaneously

To estimate average time per question, divide the total test duration by the number of questions. For example, ICAS Mathematics Year 3 may include 30 questions in 30 minutes—approximately one minute per question. Typically, the early questions are easier and can be answered in about 30 seconds, allowing students to spend more time on the more challenging questions toward the end.

We may be able to arrange an alternative testing window. Please Contact US to discuss your school's options.

A "non-attempt" is where a student skips through a question without reading or submitting an answer

The results for all tests are available in the ICAS Report portal results portal. You can access the portal via the ICAS website (icas.pearacademy.org) by going to Log in > Results, then clicking on "Log in" button in the "School results" section.

No, you do not need to print ICAS certificates. We provide professionally printed certificates and mail them directly to your school.

Results for all ICAS subjects—except Writing—are released online approximately 8–10 working days after the official sitting window closes. ICAS Writing results take longer, typically 4–6 weeks, due to manual marking. Certificates are dispatched to schools around two weeks after results are released

Students can access their results via the Results Portal using their personal TAP-ID and PIN. If they have sat ICAS previously at your school, these details are printed on the back of their earlier certificates.

For ICAS 2025, a new TAP-ID and PIN process has been introduced to give parents quicker access to results. Parents will receive their child’s TAP-ID and PIN:

  • In the confirmation email after purchase
  • Again via email when results are released, along with a link to view them

Teachers can also download student handouts from the Results Portal—each containing a student’s TAP-ID and PIN—and distribute them accordingly
